Foreword

Chairman's Message

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Singapore Youth Choir. With this, we have the honour of being older than the nation we are named after. The Choir has come a long way since it started out as a combined schools choir in 1964.

The Singapore Youth Choir has experienced many things over the years in our constant desire to reach our best in the field of choral music. Embarking on a variety of projects ranging from carolling to performing at international music festivals to recording a CD of Asian melodies has helped us expand our horizons, as well as helped bring choral music to a wider audience in Singapore.

As part of our celebrations this year, we will be going on a concert tour of Europe that ends with our participation at Tallinn '94, a choral competition in Estonia. We would like to thank all our sponsors and well-wishers for making this tour possible. We would also like to thank the festival organizers and our hosts at the various European cities on our itinerary for their warm invitation and hospitality.

It is no easy task balancing the activities of the Choir with the rest of our lives, however, with the support of various organizations, we will continue to strive for choral excellence.
